A Little Dose Of Gratitude: Welcome Endings

I take part in a weekly linkup called Ten Things of Thankful which is like a gratitude journal, except that multiple people do it and you get to read about all the wonderful things that they’re thankful for besides yourself!

I decided to join this linkup as a way of reminding myself how lucky I am, which can sometimes be difficult when life throws you a curve ball or two. If you’d like to find out more about the linkup, or join in, then you can click on the image below.

Ten Things of Thankful

This week I have much to be thankful for!

  1. I finished my thesis and it has now been posted to the university! It will be examined some time in the new year (where I meet with a panel) but I’m just happy it’s done!
  2. I’m grateful that I can now enjoy Christmas and my time off without having to type anything else!
  3. I’m thankful to my husband who has supported me throughout this process, especially at the times where I considered throwing in the towel.
  4. I very much appreciate my heating at the moment. We’ve had snow here for two days and are expecting heavier snow tomorrow. There’s nothing like sitting inside in the warm while it’s bitterly cold outside.
  5. I really feel for the people in California who have been affected by the fires. Even though I moan about the climate here in England, I feel thankful that extreme weather/natural occurrences tend to be rare. I keep those people in my thoughts.
  6. Next weekend we’re going to my mum’s for ‘Christmas’. We go the weekend before Christmas every year. It should be nice as my younger brother is bringing his dogs and our pooch will have some playmates 🙂
  7. My job is going well and I feel more confident than I did a few weeks’ ago. There is lots to learn and I know I’ll grow and develop there.
  8. Chocolate biscuits have been nice this past week!
  9. The furbabies continue to make me smile and I love taking care of them.
  10. We’ll be having a nice roast dinner tomorrow, which is always nice as my husband tends to make it and I get the joy of eating it!

What things are you thankful for?

  1. Congratulations on finishing your thesis, that’s a huge accomplishment!

You asked about rEcess. It is a program in which we get volunteers together to give a night of free babysitting to parents of special needs children. Most of the children are nonverbal autistic, or Down’s syndrome, or in wheelchairs or need feeding tubes, the kind of kids you cannot just leave with the teen up the street. We have medical people there, too, and we take care of the children and their siblings so the parents can go out without worry.

    Enjoy your roast dinner tomorrow!

  2. Congratulations on completing your thesis. It must feel good (and it must be exciting, as whatever the path you’re on shows another benchmark now behind instead of before.)
Not a fan of the cold, do appreciate the (good) contrast between cold and comfort, from a distance! lol

  3. Perfect timing that you were able to finish your thesis before the holidays!
Being able to stay indoors where it is warm is my answer to snowy days too, especially if it is blizzard like conditions. Once the storm has passed, I do enjoy going outside in the snow just to listen to how quiet everything sounds. It is as though the snow has blanketed the earth with all its sounds

  4. Congratulations! That is a big accomplishment, and I’m happy for you that you can enjoy the holidays without having to work on it!

Having moved out of California this year, it is strange to see photos of some of the fires. It’s almost unbelievable that a fire could rage so fiercely so close to The Getty Center, for example.
